Illustrating for Visualization and Communication

CGT 11700 / 3 Cr. (2 Class, 2 Lab)

This foundation course stresses the use of pictorial illustration for visualization and communication.  Various projection systems are introduced with discussion focusing on the appropriate use of view and system utilized to accentuate and provide clear communication.  A variety of digital tools are used to construct, extract and render pictorial views using vector and traditional tools.

  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of vector graphics (ABET c).
  • Define and distinguish different illustration markets (ABET e).
  • Identify and generate current illustration techniques used in industry (ABET g, i).
  • Demonstrate how color theory is applied to illustrations (ABET i).
  • Apply a working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop (ABET c, i).
  • Understand the importance of deadlines (ABET e).
