This integrated technical communication course builds advanced technical reporting skills including analysis, synthesis, and development of technical content, structure, and style for technical audiences.


By the end of this course, you will be able to

• Use a recursive writing process including planning, drafting, reviewing, and

revising multiple versions

• Write effective content to meet audience and purpose needs

• Work effectively in teams

• Summarize, analyze, synthesize, and organize technical content for technical


• Write effective definitions, explanations, and processes

• Describe, write, and organize effective report sections

• Collect, analyze, present, and interpret data for technical audiences including the

use of visuals

• Use advanced features of Microsoft Word to create high-level technical reports

• Critically analyze the ethical issues surrounding technical communication in

engineering fields
