IUPUI Motorsports Students Have Busy End to the Racing Season

September 29, 2014

Tony Barkman (Right), IUPUI Motorsports Engineering Graduate, made a return to Indiana as the World of Outlaws (WoO) sprint car series made its last trip through the Midwest for this season.  Barkman has been crewing for drivers Sammy Swindell and Craig Dollansky this season.

Colin Parker (Below), IUPUI Junior, and President of the IUPUI Motorsports Club has been racing his 600 cc engine mini-sprint racecar on Indiana dirt tracks this summer.  He also got his first opportunity to drive a full-sized 410 cubic-inch engine sprint car at Paragon Speedway last week and pulled of a surprise upset, winning both his heat race and the feature event the first time he ever sat in the car.  With the season ending, Parker now has to decide which direction to pursue for next season.

Nikky Saxon (Below), IUPUI Junior, ran her last race of the season with the Champion Racing Association (CRA) in her late model at Lucas Oil Raceway, the longest and fastest track she has ever raced on.

A group of IUPUI Motorsports students (Below) cheered her on from the stands, as she worked her way up in the field until an accident in the closing laps took her out of the race.
