Visualization of 3D objects using virtual reality method:
Dr. El-Mounayri has been using virtual reality methods to simulate machining and manufacturing processes. The project is currently supported by a STTR-NSF Phase II grant. That technology can be used to visualize bone, tooth, and joint in a virtual reality environment so that the evaluation of bone quality, 3D measurements, and root alignment, etc. can be easily made. We will explore the possibility of virtually aligning teeth, determining spacing, and checking the occlusion, which will significantly assist treatment planning.
